A summary of the environmental aspects of the congressional report and the Inspector General's report appeared The Ventana (Volume 42, Number 6, 2003), the newspaper of the Monterey Bay area chapter of the Sierra Club. This article is entitled “The environmental lies of George W. Bush.” All of the incidents documented in the congressional report and the Inspector General's report illustrate a systematic attempt to mislead the public and the Congress with falsehoods. There are lies by omission, lies by doctoring reports, lies by suppression of researchers and their work, and lies by false statements. The administration cannot dismiss these incidents as isolated or inadvertent. This practice of lies as public policy is widespread throughout the Bush administration and is carried out by Bush and many of his top appointees. George W. Bush cannot disown any of the lies by himself or his own people. They are all lies of George W. Bush.
