The Way of the Turtle - The Slow and Steady Path to Better Health

Korean Style Beef

This is absolutely delicious. We often serve it to guests and it is always a hit. I adapted it from a recipe in the Chinaberry Cookbook.

1 flank steak cut in 1/2" strips against the grain.

Per pound of steak:

1/4 C soy sauce (wheat-free if called for by your diet)
1/4 C chicken broth or stock (bullion works fine)
2 T sesame oil
1.5 T brown sugar OR 1 t dark molasses and 4 t equivalent of artificial sweetener
1/2 t black pepper
1 clove of minced garlic or 1/2 t garlic powder
1 t grated fresh ginger (freeze first for easy grating, no need to peel)
2 T sesame seeds
2 T chopped green onion

Put the marinade in a zip-type bag with the steak. Leave it anywhere from an hour to a day (well, OK, it even works pretty well in 20 minutes!).

Grill on hot grill - it cooks quickly.
