  • Winner:Best Stinson, Watsonville Fly-In and Airshow, 2004

I purchased N8306K at the end of March 2004, after looking for about a year for a plane. I originally looked at Cessna 170s, but found that they were either too pricey, or were on the East Coast. I ran across this Stinson when I decided to look at what my requirements for an airplane were. I was looking for the following features:

I remembered a couple of people that I know who owned Stinson 108s, and I sent each an email asking for information and hopefully a ride in their planes. I heard back from one fairly quickly, unfortunately his plane was headed into annual. A few weeks passed and I received an email from the other person I knew. He apologized for not getting back to me, and told me that because of a medical problem, his Stinson was up for sale. A few months later, and I was the proud owner of N8306K. The quality of the work and maintenance that the previous owner put into the plane is excellent, and was one of the main reasons I decided to purchase this plane. It has been pampered, and is in great condition. With only a few minor exceptions, I should be able to do my IFR training in this plane.

My background in flying is about 200 hours; 60 in tail-dragger including time in Champs, Cubs, and Pitts S2; about 20 hours in high-performance airplanes.
