Rosie King wrote and submitted this poem at the invitation of the Theodore Roethke Home Museum.  90 copies were printed at Foolscap Press and she was invited to read “I Flew Low over Gratiot Road” at the museum for the centennial celebration of Theodore Roethke’s birth in Saginaw Michigan.  A copy is on display at the museum.  Both poets’ childhood homes are located on Gratiot Road and as a child Rosie King walked the road to school.  Her poem is based on a dream.
