	Hummingbird Press Poets of the Monterey Bay

Hummingbird Press is a collective small poetry press of poets in the Monterey Bay area in California. The initial publishing mission of one collection of poems by each of the original nine authors was accomplished during 2002-2004. We have since added and dropped some members and now have twelve members. The press is now in its second publishing cycle, planning to publish twelve books over the period 2006-2010. We are not currently accepting additional manuscripts for future publication.

The Hummingbird Press Philosphy

We love poetry, the process of creating poems, the sharing of poems in public or in private groups, and the solitary and intimate connection that we can establish with poems in a book.
The road to publication can be mysterious and intimidating. Publishing need not be reserved only to those with MFA's who teach English at a college or university and live in New York City and have connections and are lucky. Not all of us have the constitution which permits us to promote ourselves and get published. By joining together we can combine our talents, encourage and challenge each other and create what we could not do in isolation.
There are poets in our community of extraordinary voice that we want to recognize and publish. We want to be able to pull their books off the shelf at home and read them when the mood strikes us and we want others to have that possibility, also.
